What is a Panzer?

Panzer is a German language word that, when used as a noun, means 'tank'. When it is used as an adjective, it means either tank or armoured.

Etymology

Panzer is a loanword from the German Panzer, meaning 'armour'.

Usage during World War II

During World War II, the Panzer force of Germany was an amazing success due to tactical innovation. Many of their tanks or 'Panzers' outclassed allied armour, delivered more casualties than they took in most engagements due to the impressive training the German soldiers received, and the excellent tactics used by the German forces.

One of the infamous tanks of World War II was the feared 'Tiger Tank'. The tank had a formidable firepower and thick armor. However, it had some mechanical problems due to its weight.
